THE UPS AND DOWNS OF AGENTS...
written by Dirty Derik
The old saying in the entertainment biz goes to get somewhere you have to know someone.
Well there is another road to success but it comes with a price and at some point if you plan on making it in Tinseltown you are gonna have to have one....we are talking about a agent.
The idea of having a agent scares a lot of people just starting out in the business, due to stories from the golden age of Hollywood straight to present day Hollywood, tales of casting couches and agents taking someones money and not returning any fashionable results would be enough to scare anyone off but....
All agents are not this way the best way to check a companies credentials is to do research and see if they are listed with the BBB(better business bureau) in there state they are located in , not to say that a company not listed with the BBB is a bogus deal, but it is a risky gamble.
The fee's for agents usually run either every 6 months or seasonal....prices for agents can range from anywhere between $400-$5000 each contract renewal of course the higher priced agents will achieve greater results and will help move your career along faster, but if you are a struggling talent any agent will do more for you than if you try this on your own.
I speak from example early in my music career i wasn't getting great results on my own so I hired a company based out of Arizona called TALENT2K again I did my research and saw that they were backed by the BBB and had worked with numerous known acts such as GOOD CHARLOTTE. The company is still around helping musicians get to the next step on the ladder of their music dreams, if you would like to check them out please do so by visiting them online at www.talent2k.com

So if you are ready to achieve your dreams I highly recommend hiring a agent and saving yourself a lot of time and aggravation.
WRESTLING
WITH
REALITY
By Dirty Derik
This Sunday I had the chance to attend a pro wrestling event held at a small local community center.
For anyone that follows wrestling you know the way it goes when you are no longer appearing on the big stage like RAW or SMACKDOWN, theres only one place left to go....
Enter high school Sunday evening cards and county fair bookings, on this exact evening i witnessed two very known wrestlers ( or at least at one time), "Rock & Roll Express" Ricky Morton and "THE BARBARIAN"

these guys were once members of two of the most recognized tag teams around. But on this night they were just two ordinary men trying to make a living ....it was really weird to witness them walking around socializing with the people in attendance as if they were just a regular joe who had never experienced fame and fortune.
But something I would also like to clear up is I was sitting ringside for this show and had the chance to go up to the ring and feel the ropes, mat and turnbuckles much to a lot of peoples dismay who will say oh the ring probably feels like a bed....wrong the mat was really rough and to imagine having to fall down face first or backside down on it I honestly can not imagine how these wrestlers do this on a daily basis.
People also talk about when they get hit with steel chairs oh it's fake chairs once again wrong i was in a chair that got used over one guys back and let me tell you I sat in it ,it was real steel and the sound heard from the impact when it met the wrestlers back was unbelievable.
And for someone to say oh these guys know how to take a hit like that well that may be true but for people to say that this isn't a real sport i will disagree these athletes have to be in greater physical condition than any NFL,NHL or NBA star ever would have to be in to withstand this kind of punishment repeatedly.
But something that does interest me is that aloft of the stars of professional wrestling have simple lives when they go home they have a wife or a husband and kids that they drive to school ...and hearing a lot of the conversations that was floating around the building that day ...just imagine for a moment that it was your husband or wife going off to support there family by getting beat up ..then and only then I ask you would you be so quick to judge this and call it fake?
And in the event that you are a aspiring pro wrestler please visit www.WWE.com and read about the dangers and hazards of this contact sport.

MOVE TO THE MUSIC...NO REALLY MOVE TO THE MUSIC
By: Dirty Derik
Ever think about what it would be like to work in the adult industry.....well last year i had the opportunity to learn what it's like first hand. and to clear up any confusion from that first line NO i was not a adult performer.
In February 2005 i had the chance to move to Los Angeles and work with Brittany Andrews production company.

It was a great learning experience as i got to watch the ins and outs of the industry( no pun intended). For the most part i witnessed a lot of catty attitudes from the females but the male performers were all really down to earth individuals.
A lot of people will ask you once they hear you worked in adult"hey dude did you get to see them film the movies"...No they do not just allow people to come in and watch this they keep it really respectful and allow only the people that need to be on the set on the set.
Another topic that always comes up does adult pay good money..yes but only if you are a female starlet that is willing to do whatever asked...musicians and male performers do not make much cash so please do not think you will enter this industry and become a multi-millionaire overnight it doesn't work that way.
But at the end of the day i must give kudos to the adult industry it was a fun ride while it lasted and i enjoyed the short time i spent with them.
